The research activity of the Laboratory of Engineering Mechanics includes: Macro/Micro/Nano mechanics of materials and processes, Diffusion and flow through deforamtble porous media, Cracking due to straining, corrosion and environmental damage, Phase transitions and interfaces, Material Instabilities: Dislocation patterning/Shear bands/Localized deformation, Mechanics of Soils/Rocks/Wood/Biomaterials, Mechanics of Metals/Polymers/Composites, MEMS/NEMS, Novel nanostructured materials and structures: Nanoparticles/nanowires/nanoplates, Li-ion Batteries, Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), Medical implants, Nano-decorated tissues and cells.
